Dural Mega Mansion is Overhauled by Mammoth Renovation

One of the Hills’ most exclusive estates is set to be auctioned this month, through Lumby, after undergoing an amazing makeover.

It has taken just over two years to complete the ambitious transformation of the sprawling 2ha property located at 15 Harris Rd.

The glamorous seven-bedroom split level residence opens up to a magnificent alfresco terrace overlooking a lagoon style pool, tennis court and landscaped gardens. There is also a self-contained one bedroom apartment and a one-bedroom granny flat – both of which can be leased out or used as guest/in-law accommodation.

It has been a dream project for experienced renovator Simon Viglino, a Sydney real estate agent, who fell in love with the property after seeing it online. With several projects already under his belt, he decided to embark on the supersized renovation with his partner. The home was purchased in December 2019 and both lockdowns were spent working on the epic overhaul with a team of tradespeople.

“We’d previously renovated another acreage in the Southern Highlands but we just hated the commute into the Sydney CBD – but Dural offered us the best of both worlds because it is just 45-minutes into town,” he said.

“We really wanted to renovate a large estate and this one is well-built but was very dated, so we jumped on it. The enormity of the project probably caused us the biggest stress but it was so worth it – there’s not an area where we are not happy with the outcome.”

Created to be the ‘ultimate entertainer’, the property has been designed with spaces to bring people together. Its multi-zoned layout includes a sunken formal lounge, games/cinema room with its own bar and a gym. Contemporary chandeliers hang throughout the sophisticated interiors which also feature high detailed ceilings and hardwood floors.

“Renovated homes tend to have everything looking the same and we didn’t want that so we opted for different colour schemes and finishes, “ Mr Viglino said. “We wanted to create something that changed when you moved throughout the home, and so it gives each room a purpose.”

Kate Lumby said the home is impressing high-end buyers looking for their own private sanctuary with 25 private inspections carried out at the property. Their recent Dural sales include 2 Haven Place which fetched $11.1m, 21 Wyoming Rd which sold for $6.3m and 465 Galston Rd which was purchased for $6.3m.

“This is an incredible lifestyle estate and the owners have poured their heart and soul into the project with stunning success,”.

“It is not just cosmetic changes, they went over the entire property with a fine tooth comb and have renewed everything including the gates, fences, electrical work and plumbing. It is just flawless.”
